How to Solder a Brass Angle Valve

If you have a brass angle valve, it should be made with 0.25% weighted average lead content.

Another style is the 1/2-inch, 3-/8-inch NPT angle valve. This type is ideal for water-based systems. A brass angle valve with a National Pipe Thread (NPT) thread can add drainage capability to a riser check valve that features a nipple. This valve can operate at up to 175 PSI, 200 WOG. If you have a brass angle valve that's too large for your application, the other style can be used.

Another option is to use a separate tool for fitting an angle stop. You can purchase a plastic C-shaped tool for this purpose. Simply hold the C-shaped tool against the inner sleeve. Ensure you have a firm grip while holding the tool. Lastly, you should test the angle stop for leaks by releasing the water pressure. If your valve does not close completely, you should contact a plumber immediately.

Installation of an angle stop is very easy. The angle stop has a detachable supply port and a 3/8-inch compression nut. While tightening the nut, hold the angle stop steady so that it does not twist.
